Timber Cutting Notice

Requirements of Wis. Stats. 26.03 Harvest of Raw Forest Products.

No person may harvest any raw forest products, or direct the harvest of any raw forest products, from any land for which taxes are delinquent and until 14 days after the clerk of the county in which the land is located is notified of the person’s proposal to harvest.

Please download the Notice of Intent to Cut which needs to be complete and filed with the County Clerk's office.

You can complete and file the form in the following ways:

  • Come to the County Clerk’s office in person to fill out the document
  • Mail the completed document to: Buffalo County Clerk, P.O. Box 58, Alma, WI 54610
  • Email the completed document to: [email protected]
  • Fax the completed document to: 608-685-6284

Please make sure that all fields on the form are complete, as incomplete forms will be returned unprocessed.

Buffalo County hereby disclaims any liability regarding the statutory issuance of the cutting notices, as well as any contractual liability resulting from such issuance. Each party (the landowner and the logger) is responsible for their own legal interests for any and all contracts, agreements and legal arrangements. The county does not provide any legal advice to the parties and they are hereby advised to seek their own counsel if necessary. Parties are reminded, however, of their legal obligation to provide the County Clerk with accurate and up-to-date information so that the notices are as accurate as possible.
