Eligibility
County Board Supervisors are elected every 2 years with the last election having occurred in April of 2026. The next election will take place in 2028.
Requirements to be elected to the County Board:
- Minimum of 18 years old at the time of the election
- Live in the district you are seeking to represent for at least 28 consecutive days prior to the election
- Not a person convicted of a felony (unless pardoned by the Governor or President)
- Not a person convicted of a misdemeanor which breeches the public trust (a breech of public trust has not been defined by the Wisconsin Legislature)
- No County officer or employee is eligible to be a County Board Supervisor
- A County Board Supervisor may also be a member of a town board, city council or village board.
Necessary County Supervisor Candidate Paperwork for Spring 2026 Election
Each of the following forms must be completed and filed on time by a candidate for the office of County Supervisor in order for the candidate’s name to be placed on the ballot at the February 17, 2026 Spring Primary (if necessary) and the April 7, 2026 Spring Election. The filing officer for County Supervisor is the County Clerk. Candidates should contact the County Clerk’s office for further information and to obtain any of the necessary forms shown below. You can also visit the Wisconsin Elections Commission – Local Candidates web page and view the documents under the Non-Partisan County Offices section.Â
- Form ELIS-3 Ballot Access Checklist
- Form EL-162 Declaration of Candidacy
- Form EL-169 Nomination Papers (You cannot circulate papers and collect signatures before December 1, 2025)
- Form CF-IL Campaign Finance Registration Statement*
All paperwork must be filed in the County Clerk’s office no later than 5:00 PM on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.
*If you plan to spend or accept any money at all you must have a completed Campaign Registration CF-IL on file prior to the fund activity.
If a current candidate does not plan to run again, a non-candidacy form needs to be completed. The deadline for incumbents to file this form is December 26, 2025.
