Welcome to the Buffalo County Clerk’s page. Wisconsin State Statutes establish the position of the County Clerk and defines the duties and obligations of this office. The County Clerk’s Office can direct you to the appropriate department and answer questions you may have. Our goal is to provide prompt, courteous service to the public while carrying out the responsibilities of the County Clerk’s office.
Responsibilities of the County Clerk include, but are not limited to:
- Serving as Clerk to the County Board for regular and special meetings, as well as for other committee meetings
- Maintaining official county records, including agendas, minutes, contracts, resolutions, and ordinances
- Issuing marriage licenses
- Serving as the chief election official for federal, state, and county elections in Buffalo County
- Issuing multi-dog (kennel) licenses, and maintaining dog license records for all Buffalo County municipalities
- Issuing timber cutting permits
- Managing sales and record keeping for veteran memorial bricks
