Substance Use Disorders
Repeated use of alcohol or other drugs despite negative consequences on the individual’s personal and professional life is cause for concern.
When someone is behaving in this way, it may be time for them to talk to a professional about whether they have a substance use disorder.
We work to prevent and treat substance use disorders and provide support for people seeking or who are already in recovery.
Treatment is effective. Recovery is possible.
Care & Coverage
Many private insurances offer some coverage of substance use disorder treatment. Please contact your insurance company to determine your coverage, prior to enrolling in a recovery program.
Wisconsin Medicaid covers substance use disorder treatment in a residential setting.
Services covered include:
- assessment and treatment planning,
- counseling,
- medication management,
- case management,
- peer support, and
- recovery coaching provided through a residential treatment facility.
- Medication-assisted treatment is covered under other benefits if clinically recommended.
***The residential substance use treatment benefit does not cover room and board expenses. Wisconsin Medicaid members need to use other sources to pay for room and board.
