Emergency Mental Health

Buffalo County offers Emergency Mental Health Services (EMH) in collaboration with Northwest Connections and law enforcement.  Services are available 24 hours a day/ 7 days per week for individuals experiencing a mental health crisis or in a situation which is likely to develop into a crisis if supports are not provided.

Services include:

  • Telephone: Buffalo County contracts with Northwest Connections for telephone crisis services. The goal of this service is to provide callers with information, support, assessment, intervention and response planning. 
  • Mobile Response: Buffalo County provides mobile response upon request of Northwest Connections. The goal of this service is to provide onsite intervention, assessment and response planning.
  • Crisis Linkage and Follow-up: Is provided by Buffalo County following incidents of crisis.  The goal of this service is to assist individuals following a crisis by linking to resources.
